You know...I can't say that I've ever watched an anime series that
could take something that ordinarily would be kind of interesting and
unusual...and manage to turn it into something boring, ordinary, and
completely inconsequential...that was until I watched To Heart.

This is basically the type of anime series they might show to the
unstable crazies in the insane asylum. It's the elevator music of
anime. The prosac of anime.

Every character is completely devoid of any real personality and
nothing actually ever happens. Imagine if they made an anime series
out of your boring everyday life...but then somehow managed to make it
even MORE uneventful on top of it all!

Static, one dimensional characters, no real conflict at all, no real
point to ANYTHING that even happens. Here, let me sum it up real
quick:

There's this girl named Akari (whose hair is an obvious rip off of
Kiki) whose in love with this guy she's known since she was a kid.
That guys name is Hiroyuki...he's like bored with life, wants to sleep
all the time and throughout the series you wonder why he doesn't just
kill himself off considering he seems to take no pleasure in pretty
much EVERYTHING he does or tries to do. Akari spends the entire
series lusting after him, the high point is when her friend Shiho
learns that Akari is in love with him so she backs off (cause she also
has feelings for the guy) Hiroyuki spends the entire series
surrounded by gorgeous girls, but apparently he's gay or stupid cause
he never even gets to first base with ANY of them...and that's pretty
much it. Fuck, I knew LOSERS in high school that got more action!

Here and there Hiroyuki also inadvertently winds up helping some other
pretty girls out and builds up his harem of lovely anime girls with
funky colored hair...not that it really matters.

Oooo, I like that, THAT should be the theme for To Heart:
"...not that it really matters." Or we could really take it to the
limit and sum it all up in just one gesture: *shrugs*

I swear, every character in this series is strung out on Ritalin.
Here's my impression of Akari talkin to Shiho:

Akari: "Yeah, I'm deeply in love with Hiroyuki, I can't imagine anyone
in the world I want to spend the rest of my life with, I feel that
we're practically soul mates...oh but if you're in love with him and
wanna get with him that's really okay, I won't mind at all, I'll just
be without true love for the rest of my life, it's no big deal cause
my mom started doubling my daily dosage of Ritalin and nothing in the
world bothers me at all, let's all go to a Kenny G concert!"
